Year 7 v Cheam High School
The year 7 team played against Cheam High this week in a Surrey cup game. This was a hard draw for Beacon with Cheam High being a very strong side.
With the majority of the game being back and forth both teams demonstrated an incredible defensive performance. Half time came around with the game still being 0-0.
The start of the second half was all Beacon ball with an incredible attempt on goal by George which just flew over the bar. With both teams tiring Beacon made one last push. A perfect through ball from Oscar allowed George to place the ball in the bottom corner making the game 1-0.
The last play of the game Cheam had a shot on goal but was stopped with an incredible save by Harry. Great performance in goal by both Austin and Harry.
We look forward to the next round of the Surrey Cup.
Year 7 Football vs Oxted
The year 7 football team played Oxted School in a District Cup/league Game. With this being the team’s first game together they started off strong. Every member of the team communicated well with Sonny Butcher controlling the defence. After an accurate pass from Beau Reive, Callum McDonagh placed the ball in the back of the net with a superb strike. This quickly followed by another goal from Callum making the game 2-0.
Two more goals quickly followed by George Slatter and Oscar Sergant. With an incredible start to the game the team finished the half 4-0.
As the second half started, Oxted School made a comeback with two quick goals bringing the game to 4-2. However, The Beacon heads didn’t drop and from an amazing shot from the half way line Beau managed to lob the keeper taking the game to 5-2. With the game coming to an end, The Beacon were still attacking and with two more goals from Calum Ratcliffe we finished the game 7-2.
An outstanding performance from the Year 7 Beacon team and a great start to the league/District Cup competition.
