GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Trips and Events for The Beacon School students

We offer a diverse and exciting range of trips and visits, designed to broaden horizons, build cultural capital, and develop key life skills such as teamwork, self-confidence, and resilience for our students. These include a bi-annual trip to NASA in Florida that is open to students in Years 8, 9 and 10. Our next NASA trip will be in 2027.

Our trips for the 2025-26 school year include:

  • Years 9 & 10 trip to Cambodia
  • Ski Trip to Andorra
  • Modern Foreign Languages trips to Madrid and Normandy 
  • Lille Christmas Market 
  • Field trips for Geography (Dorset) and History (Berlin)
  • Theatre visits (e.g. Dear England, Boy at the Back of the Class, Blood Brothers)
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions (Silver & Bronze)
  • Residential trip to Snowdonia
  • Science trips (National History Museum)
  • Textiles trips to Brighton, the V&A in London and Warner Bros Studios (Harry Potter) and also the Aquarium
  • Day trip to Cadbury World
  • Residential PGL trip
  • Team Building Days including the Cadets and The Army
  • Brooklands Careers visit
  • Juniper Hall
  • GLF inter-school competitions (e.g. Chess, Netball, Debating, and Spelling Bee)

There are also opportunities for students to represent the school at various community events

We are committed to ensuring all students can participate, with financial assistance available for those who need it.
