EXAMINATION RESULTS IN 2018

The Beacon Sixth Form students achieved the best A Level results the school has seen for many years.  Collectively, they made significant increases in the numbers of top grades, with four students achieving the highest A* Grade and with 17% of exams being awarded A*/A grades.  This means that several of our students can access the top universities in the country.  For example, Daisy will go on to read medicine at Manchester University and three students will read Maths at Russell Group Universities.

39% of grades were within the A*- B range, another increase in our upward trend.  A*-C was 63%, another strong performance.  At BTEC level, there was a continued 100% pass rate, with greater numbers of Distinctions and Merits than in previous years.

The GCSE results at The Beacon School have had a super bounce this year.  The increase in students passing English and Maths has been very significant.  Maths results increased by 16%, English by 10%.  The percentage of students who achieved both English and Maths, a national measure, went up by a strong 16% to 68%.  There was a bounce in the top grades, too, with 62 grades at 8, 9, A, A*.

The grades in Science above grade 4 were as follows:  Biology 93%, Chemistry 85%, Physics 82% and the Science Trilogy 40%

Our attainment 8 score was 43.8 and our Ebbac average score was 3.74.
