YEAR 10 - EAST SURREY COLLEGE TASTER DAY
The Beacon is developing links with post 16 providers in the local area. This has provided the opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and Year 10 students were given a taste of these opportunities on Wednesday at the East Surrey College Taster day. 60 Beacon students joined students from De Stafford and Oakwood schools to experience a wide range of courses including: Motor Vehicle, Electrical Installation, Construction, Plumbing, Travel and Aviation, Hair and Beauty, Public Services, Sport, Applied Science, Child Services and Health & Social Care and Art, Design & Media.
It was wonderful to see the students demonstrate their maturity and independence. Many students have now set their sights on a particular course and are working hard to achieve the necessary GCSE grades to meet or exceed the entry requirements. Students will have a similar opportunity to experience post 16 study at the Reigate College Taster day on 14th July. Well done to the Year 10s who have represented the school so well. They are clearly thinking carefully about their future and embracing all the opportunities available to them.
