Success at The Beacon Sixth Form 2022

We have been celebrating our students’ A Level successes - with many heading to university and one accepted to join Oxford - a first for the school.

Pupils in Year 13  were all applauded by staff for their resilience and determination after a difficult last couple of years with their education due to the pandemic.

We are incredibly proud of our students and it’s wonderful to see so many successes. We applaud them for the determination, resilience and good humour they have shown throughout their studies.

These results have fully prepared them for the next stages of their lives, whether it be university, apprenticeships or employment. We look forward to hearing about their successes in the future

There were three A*s for student Kayleigh, who is going to read chemistry at Oxford University. There were also three A*s and an A for her brother Ross who is heading to Leeds to read mechanical engineering.

“I really wasn’t expecting to get the results I got,” said Kayleigh. “I’d worked hard, so I thought it would be OK, but I wasn’t sure I’d get my university offer. It’s a bit terrifying to be going to Oxford, but very exciting!

“I’ve been very happy at The Beacon, and I’ve come all the way through the school from Year 7, which made today especially emotional. I’ve felt very well supported the whole way through.”

Charlotte achieved three As and a B and will be reading physics at York University and three As were awarded to Fawzia who will read pharmacy at Brighton.

“We are delighted to have shared the successes of our students today after so many years of hard work at The Beacon School from the staff and students themselves, overcoming all of the challenges of the last two-and-a-half years,” said Headteacher Keith Batchelor.

There was also success for Mollie with two As and a B and she will be reading sociology at Bournemouth. Hannah will be reading film, television and digital production at Royal Holloway after an A* and Cdist in her results.

BTEC students also achieved some excellent grades with plenty of them attaining distinctions and merits. Sonny had two Distinction * and a Distinction while Amy had three Merits. Harley achieved two Bs and a Distinction and is beginning an apprenticeship as a quantity surveyor.
