Politics
The fundamental intent of our curriculum is:
To ensure competency in literacy, numeracy and oracy
To give students the disciplinary knowledge in a broad range of subjects to allow them to enter the future pathway of their choice
To equip the students with the knowledge and skills relevant to life in the 21st century
To nurture students to become curious, resilient, empathetic, reflective and who aim for excellence
Subject curriculum intent:
- We aim to give our students a rich and detailed understanding of how the world works – including structures, processes and trends. We want our students to develop their critical and evaluative thinking when considering political ideas and systems, to develop their own confidence to think independently as young political scientists.
- We want to enable our students to compare different political systems using theoretical approaches and to be able to analyse the impact of these systems at a macro and micro level.
- We wish to build a sense of curiosity which fosters healthy and energetic debate in all of our politics lessons.
