Year 7 Football: 17 October 2017

Final score 6-2.

The first league encounter was an away fixture against Oakwood.

Both teams started well, creating chances at either end. Oakwood opened the scoring with a superb looping strike into the Beacon net, which was applauded by both sets of supporters.

Shortly after kick-off, and some great midfield play, Jack McNiff brilliantly flicked the ball onto Luis Ayres to cross the ball to an oncoming Freddie Taylor, levelling the game.

Goals for The Beacon then came in quick succession; Ife Akinrinmade calming slotting a debut goal into the back of the net, before an Ollie Tulley free kick smashed the crossbar and fell to the feet of a grateful Freddie Smith who was quickest to react and scored Beacon's third.

Freddie Smith was involved once more and crossed a pin point ball to Jack McNiff to get on the score sheet.

Both teams worked hard to gain possession and further chances fell to the two teams. A fantastic solo run from captain George Thompson saw the Oakwood keeper pull off a great save, only for Thompson to power the ball home from close range for Beacon's fifth. Freddie Smith capped off a fine display by latching onto a rebound and guiding it home to put the game out of reach.

Oakwood continued to work hard and scored a conciliation goal deep into added time.

Well done to the Year 7 Football team who now have 3 wins in 3 games.
