Appointment of New Headteacher

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Keith Batchelor as our new Headteacher at The Beacon School, effective from 1st September 2017.

We invited Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers from within the GLF family of secondary schools to apply.  The GLF MAT partnership made the recruitment process a lot easier, especially when the recruitment of Headteachers nationally is particularly difficult.

We interviewed three strong candidates on Friday 21st April 2017.  GLF colleagues, members of our local governing body, students and staff all participated in the rigorous recruitment process.
Mr Batchelor was the unanimous choice of the interview panel.

Mr Batchelor is a very experienced and well-respected Deputy Headteacher, currently at Glyn School.  His extensive leadership experience will enable us to keep moving The Beacon School forward for the benefit of our students, following our very successful Ofsted inspection in March.

Thank you for your support during this period of change. Some of you contacted us or attended the drop-in session before Easter, with some useful questions and feedback. We hope Mr Batchelor’s appointment will provide further confidence in The Beacon’s future.  We are currently reviewing our communication plan for the summer term and will share this with you next week.

We will set up a further drop-in session for parents and other opportunities for you to meet
Mr Batchelor during the summer term.  We will keep you informed and provide regular updates on Twitter and Facebook.

Mr Batchelor is looking forward to meeting parents and sharing his passion for education and the next steps for our school.
