Fixtures & Results
The Year 8 squad travelled to their first away game of the year last week. The girls made a strong start but were evenly matched by an equally as strong RAAS side. As the whistle blew to end the first quarter the score remained goalless. Beacon started the second half with a bang with Shaylyn opening the deadlock. Beacon were fast to build on their lead finishing the second quarter with a 3 goal lead. RAAS however did not give up and managed to pull 3 back to make the score level going into the 4th and final quarter. The girls showed great team work and resilience and with a few minutes left on the clock scored a winner. The final score was Beacon 4, RAAS 3. Congratulations to Shaylyn who was MVP.
Also a huge well done and thankyou to Daisy and Lou Lou who played half a game each for the Y9 team! Well done girls!
The year 8 girls Netball team travelled to Woldingham school on Tuesday 7th December to play in their league fixture. Despite the long journey and the late start, the girls played exceptionally well and represented the Beacon school well. Unfortunately they lost but made good progress with their communication and movement as a team. The player of the match selected by Woldingham School was Gea - thoroughly deserved. Well done ladies!
The girls travelled away to Carrington for their second fixture in 7 days. The match was very close from the off with both teams battling for every ball. The Beacon trailed by one goal going into the second quarter but came out fast with Sofia scoring the equaliser. The match was end to end but The Beacon managed to go into the half time break one goal up. Great defending in the third quarter by Daisy and Loulou allowed the girls to keep their lead going into the final quarter. As the light faded Carrington started to find their rhythm and scored a last minute goal to end the game with a draw. The final score was 5-5. Congratulations to Shaylyn who received player of the match.
Y8 travelled to Reigate School for their first away game of the season. The girls made a fantastic start with goals from Shaylyn and Aaliyah the first half finished 4-3 to Beacon. However, as time went on Reigate started to find their rhythm and their goals were had to stop. Reigate had gained a 7 point lead by the end of the second half. The girls showed resilience and kept fighting until the final whistle but it unfortunately wasn’t enough. Well played to all the girls involved and we look forward to our next game against Carrington. Well done to Shaylyn who received player of the match.
