The Beacon School (Year 10)
Fixtures & Results
The year 10 football team drew rivals Glyn in the Surrey cup. The game started well with Beacon putting Glyn under pressure by performing a high pressure game; Glyn did not have time to settle. Around half way through the first half Beacon had chances but so did Glyn with James pulling off some wonderful saves to keep it at 0-0 at half time.
The second half got underway and the game opened up. Glyn took advantage of a long ball through to take the lead 1-0. Whilst Beacon searched for an equaliser it was not to come as Glyn scored a second and third goal in the closing minutes of the game to win 3-0. A fantastic performance from year 10 boys against a very good Glyn side.
The year 10 football team played Oxted on Wednesday night in a league match. The game started well as Beacon took control of the match by keeping possession of the ball and creating some good goalscoring opportunities. Jack turned the ball into the net after 15 minutes only for it to be ruled out for offside. Minutes later Oxted took the lead through their first real attempt at goal. Beacon did not let this get their heads down as they searched for an equaliser. It was not long before a hardworking Ronnie took a shot that looped into the far corner to make it 1-1 at half time.
Much of the same for the start of the second half as Beacon were on top. A delightful ball from Tiago set up Jack to finish well past the Oxted keeper to make it 2-1 Beacon. The result stayed at 2-1 as the boys worked hard for one another and produced a fantastic team display. Evan, Nathaniel, and Kai did not let anything past them in defence while Tiago and Luke worked really hard in the centre of midfield to break down play and feed the Beacon attackers who did not stop running all evening.
2 wins in 2 for year 10
On to the next one....Glyn!
Year 10 boys played a league football match against Merstham Park. The Beacon went 1-0 up through Jack early on in the first half. Not long after Beacon scored Merstham equalised. Sonny then scored to make it 2-1 and 3-1 before half time. After half time, Beacon started to play nice football, keeping possession well. Jake scored from a corner with 5 minutes to go to secure a 4-1 victory for the Beacon
