Fixtures & Results

04/02/2020Year 9 - Netball (netball cup tournament)
Venue: Away - Gatton Park, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 0TD

Y9 Netball 4th Feb District Tournament at RAAS.

After a tough loss last week the girls travelled back to RAAS for the district tournament.

First round opponents were RAAS B. The girls came out with a lot of fight wanting to prove that last weeks game was just a blip. With great defensive work from Georgia and Lizze the first game was a 1 all draw.

The girls took this confidence into the second round were they were up against Oxted B. The girls set the pace in the 2nd game with Erin and Izzy making their mark scoring 6 between them to win the game 6-1.

The next game was against Woldingham B who took an early 1-0 lead. However, great team work and communication from both Daisy’s and Maddie in the middle lead to many goal opportunities for Erin and Lucy. The girls took the game in the end 3-1.

Full of confidence and belief the girls faced old rivals Oakwood in the final round. The girls had previously lost to Oakwood before Christmas in a league game. Oakwood came out fast and took an early 3-0 lead. However, great team work from Lucy and Izzy in the goal D meant the Beacon scored one back going into half time. Great support from the side lines and defending from Georgia and Lizze resulted in Beacon controlling the second half and coming from behind to win the final match 5-3.

It was a nervous wait as the points were counted and goal difference was calculated.

The results were in and the girls had taken the win!

Congratulations to all girls that took part!

Y9 Netball 28th Jan v RAAS.

It was the first match for the girls after the Christmas break and they got off to a shakey start losing the first quarter. However, the girls fought back with excellent link up play in the middle between Daisy, Erin and Maddy. Although, this was short lived as RAAS proved to be the stronger team towards the end. Final score 15 – 4 to RAAS.
