The Beacon School (Year 10) - vs - Royal Alexander & Albert School
Fixtures & Results
The Beacon 8 VS Royal Albert and Alexandra 2
The Year 10 football team found themselves in the semi-final of the district cup for the 3rd consecutive year and up against an always strong RAAS team. Our opponents started strongly and caught the Beacon boys by surprise with a long range strike finding the top corner. 1-0 down it was the job of the boys to respond quickly, and that is exactly what they did. A corner for Beacon got the game level with Johnny getting on the end of the perfectly flighted cross from Ollie. An absolute thunderbolt from Josh gave their keeper no chance, followed by a flood of goals from a range of different sources. Josh bagging a hatrick and Joe scoring 2 from corners finished off a commanding performance with a final score of 8-2. MOM split this time going to Josh with a hatrick, but also Ollie who racked up 4 assists. Another brilliant performance gets the Year 10 football team to another cup final. Date to be confirmed for after Easter along with the venue. Thank you again for the amazing parent support as always.
Come on Beacon!
On Wednesday 13th February, the year 10 football team played against RAAS in a league fixture. The game started well and most of our success was when The Beacon created width in attack, putting in dangerous crosses that just needed to be finished. Johnny was causing mayhem down the right flank and Josh similar on the left. The hard work payed off half way through the first half as Jack finished a well worked Beacon move to make it 1-0. Beacon continued to launch attack after attack and it wasn’t long before Josh scored a fantastic half volley from around 25 yards, which even the RAAS crowd applauded and cheered! This made it 2-0 at the interval.
The second half started well and RAAS started to put Beacon under a little bit of pressure as they matched the 4-3-3 formation; the next goal was vital. A throw in from Jack into the danger area put the RAAS defender under pressure who unfortunately put the ball into his own net to make it 3-0 Beacon. With 5 minutes to go RAAS still piled on pressure and were then awarded a penalty which they dispatched to make it 3-1; this is how the game ended.
Thank you to RAAS for hosting and officiating and well done to all involved.
Final score: RAAS 1-3 The Beacon
