Year 7 and 8 geography students proved themselves to be ‘Brilliant Geographers’ yesterday at the Natural History Museum. They experienced earthquakes, stood beneath the moon and came face to face with a Tyrannosaurus rex. https://t.co/b2v9yTfaD2

7CR really excelled in their home learning on environmental issues. Tasked with investigating a current issue in the world, students presented their findings - presentations, interviews, cartoons, cakes, 3D models, posters, leaflets and quizzes. https://t.co/zokaUe6JSC

Yesterday was the final Music Festival of the year. Absolutely amazing talent and so much hard work from our staff and pupils. 5 venues, over 700 children, 26 schools all united by the power of music and a love of singing. Well done everyone!

The Beacon Year 8 football team go marching on into the semi-final of the County Cup!

The Beacon travelled to The Winston Churchill School in Woking to play the quarter final of the County Cup. The game started well as The Beacon put Winston Churchill under pressure early on in the game. Jack and Freddie’s pace caused the Winston Churchill defence some problems. It wasn’t long before another through ball was played into Freddie who finished calmly; 1-0 Beacon.

The Beacon started to control the game with some lovely passing moves and combative midfield displays from Freddie, Sonny and Olly. Just before half time The Beacon extended their lead as Jack made it 2-0.

After the break, Winston Churchill changed formation to match The Beacon and scored quite quickly to make it 2-1. The boys were put under some pressure but continued to work hard and stick to our principles. Both teams had their chances second half but a superb display from The Beacon kept it at 2-1.

Well done to the entire squad for reaching the last 4 in the County. It is a fantastic achievement! Thank you to Winston Churchill for hosting and The Beacon parents for their support.

Men of the Match: Alfie and Jack

Final Score: Winston Churchill 1-2 The Beacon
