The year 8 football team played their semi final of the County Cup against Carshalton Boys at Sutton FC. The game was a fantastic spectacle as both teams played superb football. Unfortunately Beacon lost the game 1-0 in the last few moments of the game.

Year 9/10 Surrey Cricket Competition

Match report for year 9/10 cricket.

Dunottar hosted a year 9/10 indoor Surrey cricket competition. Three schools competed which were Dunottar, Reigate Grammar and The Beacon. The Beacon played Reigate Grammar in the first match and batted first. Reuben and Samuel started well as they found the gaps in the field to score runs. Samuel went on to score an unbeaten 22 which meant he had to retire. The target set was a good target to defend (75). Reigate started well with the bat but Ross and Reuben managed to take wickets meaning it went down to the final over. Unfortunately for The Beacon, Reigate Grammar managed to chase down the target with 4 balls to spare.

The second game The Beacon played Dunottar and again batted first. A good bowling display meant The Beacon scored 36 with Samuel and Jack top scoring with 10 runs. The Beacon had learnt from the first game and slowed their bowling action down to bowl more accurately. This worked with the very first ball as Jack bowled out the Dunottar batsman. Samuel, Reuben and Ross all took wickets to make it a very exciting ending. The Beacon needed one wicket and Dunottar needed 2 runs. The ball was bowled and Dunottar started to run, an attempt was made at the stumps which was centimetres away which would have won the game for Beacon.

Two narrow loses but some excellent cricket was played both with the bat and the ball.

Thank you to Dunottar for hosting and Surrey cricket for organising
