BFA Updates and Gallery

The BFA is busy all year round and this academic year has been no different. After 2 pandemic years, Team BFA were back in school, meeting people and making a difference to the students. Just some of the highlights follow:

1. Our biggest achievement of the year was finally flicking the switch to light the amazing BFA Beacon outside the main school entrance. It is making a difference to students already.

Find out all about The BFA Beacon here

2. Two Shining Light Awards (to be awarded annually at Prize Giving) will be funded from The BFA Beacon budget for at least 10 years. They will be given to students who have done something extraordinary or gone out of their way to help someone. A fantastic legacy.

3. A really great round of Staff Bids in the bidding round this year (staff bid for the money you so generously donate every year). The BFA funded £3000 of the bids and sourced other items from our community:

  • An annual bursary of up to £1000 for the annual Drama production
  • 2 3D printers for Science and Tech subjects
  • A second defibrillator
  • 3 Camcorders, Science STEM subscriptions, a table tennis table for PE, a Stage in a Box for Drama, a light box for Art, a visualiser, a speaker system for Dance and rucksacks for D of E

4. The BFA presented to the new intake of Year 6/7 parents for the first time since 2019. It was good to be back!

Click here to see how we welcomed our new families to the BFA

5. We had the opportunity to present to Banstead Rotary and strengthen a great community relationship.

6. Christmas is a key time of year for us. The 2021 BFA Raffle was amazing with some of our best gift hampers yet and all sourced from your donations. We put out some great videos at this time of year. Have a look back:

7. We took part in the Banstead May Fayre for the first time. We sold Christmas Trees for the first time.

8. We provided refreshments for open evenings, parent evenings and special events.

This is just a sample of what we do. Our thanks, as ever, to our happy band of BFA volunteers without whom none of this would be possible. Keep an eye out for what we do and how you can be invloved in the new academic year. Everything BFA is in the whole school newsletter and on our BFA social media channels. Thank you and enjoy some of the photos from the BFA year in the Gallery below.
