Another convincing victory for the Year 10 boys football team this evening. The team were missing a lot of key players and there was immense pressure from the boys to perform. The game was tight as every time Beacon took a convincing lead, Warwick came back with a goal. It took more goals from Will, Josh and Jack to keep them at bay with some fantastic strikes, along with an extremely rare goal from a corner! We have had an amazing start to the season and long may it continue in the New Year. Once again thank you to our amazing parent fan base that are always evident at games. Happy Christmas to all when it comes.

Beacon 1   -   Oxted 0

The Beacon boys were in action again tonight away at Oxted school. The game was extremely physical, and there were a lot of tackles going in. The surface was slippery and both teams were finding it difficult to play football. Some casual play from their winger resulted in Callum stealing the ball and sticking it into the bottom corner. Beacon as always played with pride and demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship on the pitch. Another win for the boys and another proud Mr Tyson. Come on Beacon!

Beacon 3   -  Richard Challoner 4

The Beacon Year 10 football team were involved in a tough fixture this week against Richard Challoner School. They are the defending champions and we knew we were in for a difficult game. We started brightly, moving the ball and putting pressure on them when they were in possession. They scored a fantastic goal that was an absolute rocket from distance into the top corner. This did not dampen Beacon spirits as some tireless work from Will up front, got us a goal to make it even. The exact same set of circumstances happened for both teams, and a goal either side (another one from Will) left it at 2-2 at half time. Second half we created chance after chance but just could not find the back of the net. We were looking tired and we switched off for 3 minutes, finding ourselves 4-2 down from two quick fire goals. Sam then smashed one into the roof of the net to make it 4-3 with 5 minutes to go. We pushed and pushed but could not get an equaliser so sadly did not come out on top this time. Special mentions go to Joe and Reuben for an outstanding defensive display, and the man of the match goes to Will for 2 goals and tireless work up front hassling their two centre backs. We learn from this game and move on to our next fixture. Credit to The Beacon boys for the level of control and respect they showed against difficult opposition.

Beacon 3 vs Reigate 0

The Beacon Year 10 football team were in action this week, and had a tough fixture against an always good Reigate School team. The match started at a seriously fast pace with Beacon getting the ball down and moving it quickly around the pitch. We created some really good chances but couldn’t capitalize. Our midfield quartet that consisted of Johnny, Jake, Callum and Tom, were really stretching the Reigate midfielders. It took Captain Tom to break the deadlock with a sweetly struck volley that hit the cross bar, that he followed up with a header into the bottom corner. Half time 1-0. Some more hard work in the second half resulted in two well worked goals from Will and Jack to complete an outstanding performance. Our defenders looked solid from the start and we were battling all over the pitch. One of this teams best performances since they joined Beacon and I left that pitch extremely proud (as always). Thank you yet again to our amazing parents and families for their support. Come on Beacon!

Year 10 Beacon vs De Stafford

Beacon 5 - De Stafford 3

The Year 10 team were in action for the first time this season, and what a start to the season.  The game was away at De Stafford, and it was a double header (1st round of the cup and league fixture).  The game started eventfully, and we were slow out the blocks.  We found ourselves 3-0 down in a matter of minutes.  Poor communication between our players led to mistakes being made that proved costly.  Half time came quickly and we started to come back into the game.  Some tactical changes from Mr Tyson and a change in formation started to switch the Beacon boys on. We were much more solid at the back.  Tom and Reuben started to get on the ball, and Jack and Will were getting in behind time after time.  Confusion at the back, and Jack poked the ball into the corner to make it 3-1.  This was followed by an own goal from a De Stafford defender, 3-2.  A cross from Jack resulted in Reuben hitting the post, followed in by Will in the top corner.  Full time 3-3 and on to extra time.  The first half of extra time and Will scores a goal quickly to put the game in our favour, 4-3.  Frankie then finishes the game with a close in finish, 5-3.  The Beacon boys should be proud of the character and resilience they showed to get back in the game and come away with the win.  On to the next game.  Come on Beacon!!

Man of the match - Tom
