Year 8 - Football Results

Having had both of last week's games postponed due to the weather another game was long overdue.

On 5th March 2018, The Beacon Year 8 boys football team faced Warlingham School in a league/district cup double header with winner taking all.  The game started off at a blistering pace and within the first two minutes Beacon were ahead with a looping shot from Will Lowe however some very sloppy defending from Beacon saw Joel Borrow's first touch of the ball picking it out from the back of the net.

Beacon then went on to dominate proceedings and attempted to regain the lead but a goal wasn't anywhere to be seen.  No matter how hard Beacon tried, things just were not going their way.  Missed chances in the form of one on ones, a saved penalty and with help of some very good keeping the score was all level at half time.

With Beacon dominating possession but being unable to score, it looked as if the first half was going to be a mirror image of the first.  It wasn't until a well struck free kick by Ben Wakeling somehow managed to find its way past all players and bounced over the top of the Warlingham keeper.  Beacon kept on plugging away and eventually a well taken goal from substitute Theo Willams secured the win for the home team.  Beacon now wait to see who they will face in the final.

Man of the match performance goes to Ollie Hislam.
