Year 8 - Options Information

Year 8 students finish Key Stage 3 courses in July 2018 and move on to Key Stage 4 courses in September 2018.

In preparation for this transition, your child will shortly be choosing his/her courses ready for Years 9, 10 and 11.  This is obviously an important decision for your child's future; we recognise that the options process can be a difficult time for young people and we seek to offer support, guidance and to make the options process as straightforward as possible.

The choices made are of crucial importance as they pave the way for future study.  For this reason, we will do everything we can to ensure students, and you as parents, receive the best possible advice.  As well as the Options Booklet students will:

  • be able to talk to their Form Tutor, who has been fully trained in the options process
  • receive an interview with a senior member of staff, these will take place between Monday 19th March and Friday 30th March 2018
  • experience taster lessons as part of their timetabled lessons during the fortnight beginning 5th March 2018
  • be able to attend the Options Evening on Wednesday 28th February 2018 at 6.30 pm

There will also be a Parents’ Surgery to address any last minute concerns you may have on Wednesday 18th April 2018, from 4-6 pm.

Please phone Mrs Rumbol on 01737 365218 if you wish to make an appointment.

OPTION FORMS MUST BE RETURNED TO MAIN OFFICE BY FRIDAY 20TH APRIL 2018
